Adventure Sessions

At Quirky Quest, we’re committed to providing an engaging and supportive experience for every child and teen. Here’s a guide to what you can expect during our 6-week sessions:

Session Zero: Introduction and Character Creation

Our journey begins with Session Zero, where we introduce the rules of the game and build characters together. This session is designed to make sure everyone is comfortable with the game mechanics and ready to embark on the adventure. We’ll help each participant create their own unique character and explain how the game works in a fun and accessible way.

2

Weekly Adventures: Exploration and Fun

The next five sessions are where the adventure truly begins! Each week, participants will dive into exciting quests and challenges. Our facilitator, Chris, will come prepared with background music and creative elements to make the experience immersive and fun.

3

Group Organization and Scheduling

We offer different groups to ensure a tailored experience that meets the needs and interests of participants. Currently, we run sessions for ages 10-13, ages 14-17, and adults. Groups are kept small so everyone gets personalized attention and a chance to fully participate. We also gauge interest before starting a new session to make sure there are enough participants for each group, and we schedule sessions based on the availability of the space and the group.

4

Rules-Light Game

We play a rules-light game designed to be accessible for everyone. This approach simplifies gameplay, making it easy for all participants to join in and enjoy the adventure without being slowed down by complex rules. We have two versions of Quirky Quest, both rules-light, and we select the version that best fits each group. For example, we typically use the Lite version for adult participants to make the game as smooth and fun as possible.

5

Accessibility Cards

To make sure every participant feels confident and comfortable, we provide:

  • Prompt Cards: To help the adventurers if they’re unsure of what to do next.

  • Nope Cards: For when they need a break or feel uncomfortable.
